Franek Caps Off Speedweek With Win at Utica-Rome - Curtis Berleue Photography

By Curtis Berleue | Davie Franek and his Davie Franek Racing crew capped off a long Empire Super Sprints CNY Speedweek with another win at the Utica-Rome Speedway.

The 5th annual ESS CNY Speedweek started at Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY on Wednesday July 3. Franek started the night lining up 5th in heat race number three, finishing 6th. After lining up 15th for the A-Main, Franek advanced 8 spots to come home 7th in the non-stop affair.

Thursday night Franek and crew headed to the Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, NY where he visited victory lane just two weeks prior with the Patriot Sprint Tour. With 37 cars in the pits, Franek went out in heat two, finishing 3rd after starting on the pole, which was just enough to land him in the redraw. Franek redrew the 12th starting spot for the A-Main, and was able to once again make forward progress, coming home a solid fifth.

On Friday, CNY Speedweek competition resumed at the Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, NY. Franek and the #28F machine lined up 6th in heat number two and came home 6th as well, putting him in the dash. In the dash Franek lined up 5th and was able to advance to 3rd, lining him up 15th to start the A-Main where he would ultimately advance one spot for a 14th place finish.

Round four of Speedweek took place on Saturday at the Fulton Speedway just down the road in Fulton, NY. Lining up 2nd in heat one, Franek finished 3rd, once again putting him in the redraw. Drawing a number 4, Franek started up front but dropped back to his final finishing position of 11th.

The final night of CNY Speedweek was held at the Utica-Rome Speedway, another track where Franek & crew recently picked up a victory. In group three of group time trials, Franek was fastest, which lined him up 4th for heat three with a four-car inversion. Franek would remain status quo, coming home 4th in the heat and landing him in the redraw yet again. Drawing starting spot 11, Franek had a lot of cars to pass, but would ultimately come out on top yet again at Utica-Rome for the $3,000 victory!

After a busy 5-race week, Davie Franek Racing is set to jump right back into action on Friday night at the Utica-Rome Speedway against the All Star Circuit of Champions. Saturday night, Franek will defend his points lead with the Patriot Sprint Tour at Woodhull Raceway, and Sunday night Franek will once again compete against the All Star Circuit of Champions, this time at the Lebanon Valley Speedway. The team will then leave the 410 between the rails and compete in the Jersey Rush at New Egypt Speedway on Tuesday July 16.
