By Curtis Berleue | Davie Franek continued his winning ways with the Patriot Sprint Tour Friday night at Ransomville Speedway and followed it up with a strong third place finish at Autodrome Drummond on Saturday night with the Empire Super Sprints.
Ransomville Speedway was another new track for the driver of the Dave Franek Auto Sales/Rapid Tire #28f, however it didn’t take long for him to find the fast way around the fast 4/10 mile speedway. Lining up fourth in heat race number one, Franek was able to work his way up to second and gain critical passing points putting him into the top eight redraw.
After drawing the sixth starting spot, Franek was able to quickly work his way up to second and start to reel in the 79 of Jordan Thomas. On lap 17, Franek finally cleared Thomas and never looked back en-route to victory lane.
“This win definitely makes the five and a half hour drive here a bit easier,” stated Franek in victory lane. “I just knew if I could keep my momentum up, eventually that would win and that’s exactly what happened.”
After a win Friday night, Franek and the 28f crew made the long 8-hour haul to Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec to race with the Empire Super Sprints.
Going out in group two, Franek was able to time trial quickest in his group, starting him on the outside of the front row for heat two as two cars were inverted from time trials. He then advanced one position for the heat win, putting him in the redraw. Drawing the pole for the A-Main, Franek would take home yet another podium on the season finishing in third.
Plans had called for the Davie Franek Racing #28f to make a stop at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the Empire Super Sprints on Sunday June 2, however mother nature put a stop to that as over night and early morning rain washed out that event.
Currently, Franek leads the Patriot Sprint Tour points with 429 over Jordan Thomas (418) and Joe Trenca (417). After missing one Empire Super Sprint event, Franek still sits sixth in points.
This coming weekend, Franek will compete on Friday and Saturday with the Empire Super Sprints at Mohawk International Raceway (Awkesane, NY) and Airborne Speedway (Plattsburgh, NY). The team will then put the 410 between the rails and compete on Sunday with the Ollies Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, NY.
